My March Craft!

                                                          St Paddy's Day Wreath!!!

I Got my ideas from : Ribbon Wreath & Tatertots & Jello

I took pictures of what I did along the way, because I combined both ideas from their ribbon wreaths, I tried doing half and half of circle loops of ribbon and skinny loops (can't really think of a word to describe it, see the picture below )

Materials I used:
-1 16' styrofoam wreath from Michael's
-Assorted green ribbon (this is how much I used and had a little left over, i grabbed a bunch from christmas clearance and splurged on full price ribbon- you don't have to strictly follow this it's just a guide on how much to buy)
4 rolls 7/8" x 9 ft
1 roll 3/8" x 4 yd
1 roll 3/8" x 3 yd
3 rolls 3/8" x 9 ft
4 rolls 5/8" x 3 yd
(I wish i had more skinny ribbon to fill in spaces)
- glue gun

Loops of Ribbon
I covered my Styrofoam  wreath in green ribbon!

I followed their guidelines and cut strips of ribbon in to 4.5"

The longest time was rolling each ribbon and then you go crazy and glue away!!

I am very happy with how it turned out!!

Wine Cork Mirror

Quite some time ago, I remember seeing a mirror that was lined in wine corks. However, I could not find it on the interwebs anywhere when i needed a reference! So I had to wing it a bit and im VERY excited with how it turned out!!!

Sorry for the casual picture, Currently it does not have a home yet and is waiting until i have my own place.

-I got the mirror from Ikea for 20$
-I got a HUGE box of wine corks luckily from a family friend, the selection was incredible. So because i can be a little bit (anal) at times. I spent quite a lot of time making sure i had all different kinds of cork and no 2 corks beside each other.
-You can't really tell in the picture but at the top, bottom and sides I have 4 larger corks from champagne bottles and tequila bottles to mix it up a bit.
-I bought some Gorilla glue (I can't remember how much $ but it can be found anywhere in the hardware section)
-I found online they suggest you wet the cork a bit before gluing, So I took each cork and a wet cloth. Wiped each cork with wet cloth before applying a small bit of glue and gluing it on. The glue expands so you do not need alot!!
-I had it lying down on a coffee table as i worked on it and left it like that for a few days. As you continue gluing around every once in awhile go back to what you just recently glued and push down again. Because as the glue sets it expands and will raise up off the mirror!
-So make sure you keep pressing down on your cork!!
- I believe I let it set for a couple of days, and once its set my goodness it is VERY stiff and the cork are not going anywhere!!!!!!!
- I will try and upload a better picture once it has a home :)

Now I just gave you a good reason to open the bottle of wine tonight ;)

My addiction to wreaths

I have developed this new addiction to making Wreaths. I have been inspired by Pinterest of course, and have realized you can make a wreath for any season! So i have decided to make a wreath for every season/holiday.

                                                           Halloween 2012:
I got my idea from Better Homes and Gardens!

1) I did use a black boa I had lying around, but I did buy a 18' circle wreath form from Michael's (before i knew i could do it for cheaper) i found that 1 boa did not make it look full enough so had to use 2 black boas. gluing around the circle. i did focus more on the front since it is what you see.

2) I did manipulate the eyes a bit, I had a bag of pom pom's from the dollarstore from a previous craft and so i used up those gluing the googley eyes on them (also from dollar store) - i glued the pom poms together before gluing onto wreath.

3) I found the "boo" from the dollarstore, simply used pipe cleaner to attach it around the wreath!! i am so happy with how it turned out!!

Christmas 2012: My first christmas ball wreath!
I got the tutorial from here: Matt & Becky's Blog!

She give's an AMAZING description on how to do it, it was so easy to follow!

1) I decided to go with a plain silver wreath (it was a gift for my neighbour and her decoration theme was red and silver) I happened to get a giant container of christmas balls on sale.

 2) I do love how it turned out and how simple it is!! and it was actually SO FAST to make I think i made it in an hour.

 3) For this wreath I used the Plumbing tubing idea I got from here: Pipe Insultation Wreath

 4) I did realize with a hot glue gun that the tubing does melt very easily!! so be careful!

                                                       "Winter theme" wreath
I made a lovely winter theme wreath for my boyfriends Sister and brother-in-law who live in sunny NC. I am quite happy with how it turned out!!

I got some inspiration from here: Christmas Craft Wreath

1)She really wanted a winter "theme" one since they celebrate Hannukah I chose a Silver theme and was able to pick up the fake pine wreath from Walmart for $8 i believe!

 2) I found the monogram "B" for their last name which i like a lot because it is more welcoming on a front door.

 3) I did spray some fake snow and sprinkled glitter on the pine after using a spray adhesive spray so that it would stick! I just found an "elmers spray adhesive"

                                                             Valentines Day 2013
I couldn't find a decent sized heart shape form so I tried to make my own, I got help from here: Cameron Homemade

There were so many wreath ideas on pinterest for valentines day so I wanted to try something different, I am not very happy with how it turned out, ill try again next year!

1) Getting the tubing into the heart shape was quite difficult and picky.

2) I had also made the heart shape prior to wrapping it in yarn, which my boyfriend mentioned would have been easier to wrap as a solid long piece.. So if you try this.. wrap it in yarn BEFORE making the heart shape.

3) I made the flowers out of felt which i got the tutorial from here: Little Things Bring Smiles

4) I found the little hearts at the dollarstore and glued them on.

I Think that is all for now! I will for sure be posting more since I am just about to start my St Paddy's Day one!!
